Too small to be a professional wrestler, too large to be a jockey, Christian sought refuge in the bosom of Games Workshop’s then fledgling publishing division and spent several years editing both a short fiction magazine and a monthly comic book. After stints on both the Black Library and Black Flame imprints, Christian made the jump to Solaris (so named because Napoleon once appeared to him in a dream with the word tattooed on his forehead). When he doesn’t have his head in the slush pile, Christian can be found with his head in the latest Coupland, Palahniuk or Bendis, or playing cards for money. Christian is married (sorry, ladies!) with children.

Mark Newton spent three years working at the front line of bookselling before his move to BL Publishing. Books have consumed his life. His favourite authors include M John Harrison, Christopher Priest, Don DeLillo, and Steven Erikson. Aside from being obsessed with music, his spare time is taken up writing fantasy fiction, represented by agent John Jarrold. His first book, The Reef, is published in the UK, April 2008. George Mann is the Consultant Editor of Solaris and the author of The Mammoth Encyclopaedia of Science Fiction, The Human Abstract and Time Hunter: The Severed Man. He likes drinking gin & tonic at SF/Fantasy conventions and thus can usually be found loitering in the hotel bar (hell, any bar…), or re-mortgaging his property to enable him to buy the entire dealer’s room. Indeed, he spent the first decade of his working life loitering in bookshops, pretending to manage them but actually just fondling the paperbacks for his personal gratification. His favourite authors include Alastair Reynolds, M. John Harrison, Arturo Perez-Reverte and Neal Asher. He invented the name Solaris when, in a rare moment of clarity – he found it spelt out in his alphabetti spaghetti one lazy winter afternoon.
